The first thing you'll notice when we chat on the phone is my accent! I'm British and moved from the UK to Rye, NY in 2005 when my kids were 5 and 7 years old. Fast forward to 2020 and I still have my accent, although the kids lost theirs within a few weeks of arriving!
We are now US citizens, my daughter graduated college last year, and my son will graduate in 2021. How did that happen?!
Newborns: are perfect the way they are and don't need to be 'posed' or surrounded by props. Babies, gently wrapped or full/partially naked, are in charge during their session and plenty of time is allowed for feeds and diaper changes!
Families: that there's nothing more important than capturing family connections, whether candid or gently 'directed' by me. It's not unusual for me to get teary-eyed while editing session images as I come across those special connections and moments. The in-between hugs, the smiles and laughter from kids goofing around, and the random signs of affection captured when no-one is looking. I feel privileged to capture and 'freeze' these moments which remind us that "photographs are the great pause of life".
Children: kids should be encouraged to be themselves. It's not about the smile - if they want to then great, but the most important thing is to let their moods and personalities shine through.
Headshots: should bring out your personality and reflect the real you!
Our children grow way too fast and before we know it they've flown the nest, so please get in touch and allow me to preserve some special memories for you, and them. They will definitely thank you for it. Watching kids thumbing through their session image book makes my heart sing every time!
